Knox-Lincoln SWCD Tree & Shrub Sale Huge Success!
On behalf of
the Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Directors, I would
like to extend a hearty thank you to the following people for donating their
time, energy and assistance to help at the 2010 Tree & Shrub Sale. What a
wonderful way to help the community and promote conservation education in
MidCoast Maine. The Tree & Shrub Sale fundraiser was certainly a lot of work,
but ask anyone who helped and I’m sure they’ll agree it was a lot of fun as
well.
We are very
fortunate to have so many dedicated individuals who are willing to lend their
support to maintain our conservation efforts. This year’s sale was one of the
best ever but it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and
perseverance of our volunteers.

Thank you
very much to the courtesy extended to the District by the Spear family, we were
able to receive the nursery stock and prepare the orders for pick-up day. As
with all major fundraising events, many months of preparations and planning take
place prior to the actual sale day and could not be accomplished with the
dedication and support from our volunteers.

Beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures greeted this year's Trout Sale

pond owners a way to acquire disease-free, certified Rainbow and Brook Trout
purchased at a reasonable price, with the added convenience of a pick-up
location that’s close to their pond.
Area
residents arrived at the Lincoln Recycling Center in Wiscasset at 10:00am and
the USDA Service Center in Warren at 12:00pm to pick up their purchases and
transport them to local private and public ponds. Many thanks to Chris & Mark
from Dead River Hatchery, Gary from Mountain Springs Hatchery and Mike Thompson
from Lincoln County Recycling for working together with the District to make
this fundraising effort a success!
